EVERYONE LISTED AS APART OF THE TEAM ARE NOT EMPLOYEES OF NORTH VALLEY FLY FISHING. THEY ARE ALL CONSIDERED INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS RUNNING COMPLETELY SEPARATE BUSINESSES/OPERATIONS.
Born and raised in Vacaville CA, Ryan obtained a high level of fly fishing experience at a young age on Putah Creek. Ryan began fly fishing and tying in 2003 and guiding in 2006. Also having worked retail in 2 fly shops.
After fishing nearly every fly destination and every freshwater species Northern California has to offer, Ryan has since been able to narrow down his favorite options, settling down in the center of it all, next to Lake Oroville. Most of his guiding consists on Lake Oroville & the Feather River, however you can also find him guiding on Clear Lake and Thermalito Afterbay. When the guide season slows down during winter & dog days of summer, Ryan does a little guiding, a little personal fishing, but is heavy on the fly tying. This is when the "fly shop" here is in full swing. This equates to a busy life year round. He's still got time to chat however, give Ryan a ring!

Both a father and a husband. Born and raised in Vacaville CA, Clayton is our local Putah Creek expert. Growing up about 15 minutes from Putah, Ono has a lifetime's worth of fishing experience here with over 15 years of first hand fly fishing knowledge. Consequently "the creek" has always had a very special place in his heart, and it shows on his trips. A very passionate angler, Clayton is a top notch river steward. All this with an easy going laid back demeanor.
Having run a fly through every nook and cranny Putah has to offer, he has the creek absolutely dialed and is more than ready to put his guests on some real solid trout!
When Clayton isn't guiding, working, or on father duty, you just might find him literally running a marathon, golfing, or hitting the gym!

Both a father and the husband to a very cool wife who lets him fish, fish, and keep on fishing... Johnny is an absolutely great guide and has his waters dialed. He's learned a ton from both Ryan and Clayton. Both have trained him well. Johnny's drive and enthusiasm is next to none. Fly fishing is clearly his passion and he is one of the most outgoing genuine guide's you will ever meet. His boat has been known to outfish Ryan's on two boat bass trips! North Valley's other Putah Creek Guide, second in line to Clayton. However, residing in Winter's CA, Johnny now takes the title away from Clayton as "Putah Creek's most local guide..."
You can also typically find Johnny in Alsaka for a major portion of the year where he spends time with his wife's family. While here you better believe he gets his fix in. He mainly target's steelhead and tortures nor cal friends with pics.
The float n fly leech originates back to Boti's original "Leech Lyfe" fly. All others are knock offs, including the ones sold here! With well over a decade of serious fly tying and local fishing experience, Boti has been instrumental in the growth of NVFF. Many successful guide trips over the years began days prior with Ryan taking Boti to: put in work and scout, or to just get out and have fun. More often the later. Boti's flies are absolutely beautiful, and truly works of art. His skills on the water are equal.
These day's most of Boti's time consists of him working a great career in HVAC. However he still manages time to help Ryan fill starter packs with flies when Ryan is too busy guiding for months on end.
Cole ties in great quantities with perfection. He covers all the flies for the float n fly starter packs.
Cole grew up fishing the Napa river and trolling lakes for trout with his uncle. Throughout high school, he fished with friends consistently for stripers, bass, and trout.
Same path as Ryan, during high school, he started working at Sweeney’s in Napa. Not long after starting, his coworker Jose Rubio stuck a fly rod in his hand and he hasn’t looked back since. His passion, determination, and curiosity drove him to pick up on every aspect of the fly fishing, including fly tying. During his time at Sweeney’s he ended up taking over operation for the fly department.
For the last 6 plus years he has spent any free time mastering Putah Creek and elsewhere. He's really branched out, having fished most all of Northern California’s top destinations. Even down to locations such as Stinson Beach, which is now his home water where he targets surf perch regularly. Take note of Cole Kipsey people! He’s a real up and comer.
